“Goodnight Sire...” Merlin said as he was about to burn out the last candle in Arthur’s chambers.

“Wait, Merlin!” Arthur called in a haste.

The man turned to him.

“Yes?”

Arthur grew quiet.

“This...is the last time...that it’s just us....tomorrow Gwen will move in....this is the last time...” He said in a regretful tone.

Merlin nodded.

“I know...” He said solemnly.

“I’m sorry...i...i needed a heir...i didn’t...i shouldn’t have-” Arthur sobbed.

Merlin climbed onto the bed and held him close, letting the man hug him tightly and cry into his shoulder.

“I’M SO SORRY MERLIN!” Arthur wailed.

“Shhhhhh...shhhhhh i’ll still be here, i’ll never leave you...” Merlin hushed and kissed his head.

“I shouldn’t have asked Gwen to marry me, i shouldn’t have pretended to love her, i love you Merlin, YOU and always you, it will always be you and no one else, please know that Merlin!” He cried and broke the hug, holding Merlin’s head carefully his fingers weaving through the mans’ hair.

“I know....” Merlin hushed and kissed him tenderly.

“We....we can’t...kiss, make fun with one another, wake up like we do, make love or be ourselves anyone...we can’t love like we have been anymore!!” Arthur cried with sadness.

“I know...but know that i’ll always love you...remember what we did...how you loved it when i gently bit your ear lobe....” Merlin whispered and bend down, lightly biting Arthur's ear lobe, making the king moan.

“Merlin...” Arthur whispered, his hands moving up to hold Merlin’s back and hair, eyes closed.

“How...my hands trailed up your chest.” Merlin whispered and let his hands travel up his chest, feeling his warmth and muscle.

“Merlin...” Arthur called dreamily.

“How i kissed you...” Merlin hushed and leaned down capturing his lips, kissing him passionately.

Arthur laid down on the bed and Merlin held him close, kissing him back, both pouring all their love for one another into that kiss.

They slowly broke off after a long moment.

“I love you Arthur, i’ll always love you, we’ll stay together...we will...” Merlin said sweetly and kissed Arthur’s fore head and pulled the covers over the two and he snuggled up close to Arthur.

“I’m so sorry for what i did...to us...” Arthur hushed, stroking his hair.

“I know you are, thank you for apologizing, but we’ll make this work...”

Arthur smiled and kissed his head.

“Knowing you, that will happen....so i’ll tell her about us...i have to.” Arthur whispered into Merlin’s hair and kissed it gently.

Merlin smiled. “My brave knight...” He said and took Arthur's arm and hugged it close, kissing his hair.

He slowly turned and kissed Arthur and closed his eyes.

“Night lovely...” Merlin whispered like he did every night.

“Night Merlin... my Merlin....my love...” Arthur hushed and kissed his hair and the two fell asleep, hope shining bright.
